This Privacy Policy explains how Sentient Foundation (“Sentient”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and discloses personal information when you use our applications, websites, and services (collectively, the “Services”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable data protection laws. For the purposes of data protection law, Sentient is the data controller for personal data you provide to our Services. If you have any questions about this Policy or your rights, you can contact our Data Protection Officer at contact@sentient.foundation.
Information You Provide:
We do not require you to provide direct identifiers such as your name, address, or phone number to use most of our Services. However, we may collect certain identifiers when necessary (for example, payment details if you subscribe to a paid service, or profile information if you choose to log in with a third-party account). Additionally, we may collect personal data that may be created automatically so that the Services work correctly and securely. This may include IP addresses, device IDs, or payment data (if you subscribe to a paid service), and any content you input into the Services (such as prompts, queries, files, or messages). If you communicate with us (for example, for support), we will collect the information in those communications. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data (such as race, health, or biometric data) unless you choose to provide it, and we ask that you not upload sensitive data into our AI or blockchain features without necessity.
Information Collected Automatically:
When you use our website or app, we and our third-party analytics providers may automatically collect certain technical data about your visit. This includes your IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages or screens viewed, date/time of access, and referral links. We use cookies or similar tracking technologies to gather usage statistics and to improve user experience (see our Cookie Policy for details). This data may qualify as personal data under some laws, and if so, we treat it in accordance with those laws. We do not use this data to identify you by name, and we do not allow third parties to use it for their own marketing.
Information from Third Parties:
If you choose to link a third-party account to Sentient (for example, signing in via Google or using a crypto wallet), we may receive basic profile or account information from that third party with your consent. We ensure any such data sharing is subject to your control and in line with this Policy.
Service Delivery:
We use your personal data to operate and provide the Services’ functionality. For example, we process your Inputs to generate AI Outputs and use your account data to authenticate you and manage your account. Payment information is used to process subscription fees or purchases.
Service Improvement and AI Training:
We may use the content you provide (your prompts and outputs) to train, test, and improve our AI models and algorithms unless you have opted out of such use. Training on user data allows us to enhance model accuracy and develop new features. Where possible, we de-identify or aggregate data used for improvement to protect your privacy.
Compliance and Safety:
We process personal data as required to comply with legal obligations, such as financial record-keeping or responding to lawful requests by authorities. We may also process data to enforce our Terms of Service and usage policies, for instance, monitoring for abuse of the platform. This includes using automated tools to detect prohibited content, which may involve scanning inputs and outputs for policy violations. If necessary, we will use or disclose data to investigate fraud, security incidents, or other illegal activities, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sentient, our users, or the public.
Communications:
If you provide contact information, we may use it to send you service-related notices such as important announcements or support responses. With your permission, we may also send marketing communications about new features or products. You can opt out of marketing at any time.
Blockchain-Specific Usage:
If our Service involves writing certain data to a blockchain (for example, recording a transaction or verification), we will use the minimum data necessary (often just a hash or identifier), and the data will become a permanent part of the public ledger. This usage is inherent to the Service’s decentralized functionality, and by using those features, you are asking us to record that data on the blockchain on your behalf.
If you are in a jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we process your information under the following bases:
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, nor do we share it for their own advertising purposes. We may disclose personal data in the following cases:
Service Providers:
We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate the Service, for example, cloud hosting providers, payment processors, analytics services, or email service platforms. These parties process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to safeguard it and use it only for the services they perform for us.
Affiliates:
We may share data with subsidiaries or affiliates of Sentient for purposes consistent with this Policy (for example, a related R&D team improving the AI). All such entities follow equivalent privacy protections.
Business Transfers:
If Sentient is involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of its assets, personal data may be transferred to the successor entity. We will ensure the new owner honors the commitments in this Policy or provide notice if terms change.
Legal and Safety:
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request (for example, a subpoena or court order). We may also disclose data if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or property of Sentient, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the personal safety of users or the public.
With Consent:
We will share your personal data with third parties outside of the above scenarios only with your consent.
We employ appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption of data in transit and at rest where applicable, regular security audits, restricted access controls, and employee training on data protection. Our security program is aligned with industry standards and is periodically reviewed.
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the Service and provide personal data at your own discretion and risk.
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. AI training data derived from your content may be retained to improve our models, but if you delete your account or opt out, we will cease using new data from you for training.
Any data recorded on a public blockchain may be permanently retained. We cannot delete or modify such data, but we minimize personal information stored on-chain by using hashes or pointers.
Sentient Foundation is based in Singapore but operates globally. Your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and countries in the European Economic Area (EEA). We rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for international transfers and ensure adequate safeguards are in place.
You have the right to access, correct, and delete your data, and to withdraw consent or opt out of data use for AI training. You can contact contact@sentient.foundation to exercise your rights.
Our Services are not intended for individuals under 16 in the EU/UK or under 13 in the United States. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
