Werewolf Agents Tournament at AGI House
November 27, 2024
Last weekend, we hosted the AGI-Thon Werewolf Agents Tournament at AGI House in Hillsborough, California. The challenge was simple in theory yet deeply complex in practice: build an AI agent that can play the social deduction game Werewolf (or Mafia) using open-source LLMs like Llama 70B.
Throughout the day, teams coded, tested, and refined their agents as they tried to outsmart, deceive, and survive. The atmosphere felt like a mix between a hackathon and a live strategy game show, with laughter, heated debates, and plenty of unexpected twists.
Our own “pet robodog turned werewolf” was part of the fun, sparking curiosity about what happens when AI learns not just to think, but to lie. Would you play Mafia with a sentient and emotionally aware robot?
The event, hosted by Sentient Foundation in partnership with Fireworks.ai, explored how AI can handle trust, deception, and reasoning in social settings—skills crucial for the next generation of intelligent systems.
A huge thanks to everyone who made the event happen!
